Ann Schertz plays Ashokan Farewell and others

Ann Schertz plays Ashokan Farewell (by Jay Ungar), Petronella (traditional), and the first part of Over the Waterfall (traditional) on the hammer dulcimer. This was recorded in Oct 2007 in Benham, KY during a chapter picnic of Harlan County members of Kentuckians for the Commonwealth.

Ann is the Chapter Representative for Harlan County. She grew up on a farm in Illinois and moved to Harlan County 20 years ago to teach music at Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College in Cumberland, KY. Of her involvement with KFTC, Ann says, "It is important to me that rural communities like my home in Harlan County thrive instead of just survive. I joined KFTC in 2002 because this organization is a voice for ordinary people who want to work together for positive change at home."
